 Description:  The Indigenous Access Scholarship financially assists Indigenous students from regional and remote areas on low incomes with higher education costs. This scholarship is aimed at students looking to undertake full-time undergraduate degrees and associate degrees, or students looking to undertake an Indigenous Enabling Program such as the Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP) in either a full-time or part-time capacity. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and do not need to be repaid.

 Annual Comment:  The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $4,823 (2015 rate). Recipients will also be awarded an Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship, and, where applicable, an Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be of Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander descent; be Australian citizens; be a commencing full-time student at USQ; be enrolled in either a Bachelor degree, the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching, the Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP), the Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP), or the Access and Equity (ACEQ); be from a low income background; not already have completed an award considered equal to or higher than an Australian bachelor degree, unless now enrolling in the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching; and not already have accepted or received an IAS from USQ or any other higher education provider. Preference is given to those students who need to relocate from regional and remote areas in order to undertake university study for the first time.
