 Description:  The City of Penrith has been recognised as a Regional City under the NSW State Government's Metropolitan Strategy helping to ensure Penrith will enjoy the benefits of Sydney's growth during the next 25 years. Under this regional city status there will be a greater diversity and range of quality jobs, commercial, retail, health, cultural, recreation, entertainment and lifestyle opportunities for the residents of Penrith City. This strong local economy, one that is able to provide for and attract quality jobs, is a key part of the City of Penrith's sustainability and investment in education is seen as integral to this. Penrith City Council therefore support a number of scholarships at UWS each year. These scholarships support local students pursuing studies in areas of regional significance.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents; receive an offer or be currently enrolled to study full-time in the Bachelor of Education (Pathway to Teaching Birth-5 years/Birth-12) at UWS; hold a Diploma in Children's Services (or equivalent); have been a resident of the Penrith Local Government Area for at least 12 months prior to applying for this scholarship, and continue to reside within the Penrith Local Government Area for the duration of the scholarship; demonstrate a commitment to the early childhood sector through leadership and community contribution; and be willing to complete a negotiated period of work experience with Penrith City Council.
