University Overview

The University of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious universities. Established in 1874, it is a member of the Group of Eight, which comprises Australia's leading research universities.

Undergraduate

Adelaide offers a wide selection of undergraduate degrees for students. Study areas for these courses include architecture, engineering, arts, business, health sciences, medicine, law, music, nursing, sciences, psychology and education. Study options such as part-time, full-time, on-campus and off-campus study are also available.

The basic entry requirement for undergraduate students is the completion of year 12 and the ATAR standing. However, alternative options are available for students who are not able to meet regular requirements. The University of Adelaide also offers a range of scholarships, funded by the university and by external organizations, for undergraduate students from wide-ranging backgrounds.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate study at Adelaide come in two categories, coursework and research degrees. Postgraduate coursework degrees are based primarily around lectures and tutorials while postgraduate research degrees are specialized and research-intensive. Adelaide offers a broad range of postgraduate coursework degrees, in a range of disciplines which includes arts, architecture, business, education, engineering, law and health sciences.

The Adelaide Graduate Centre (AGC) is responsible for the management and administration of research degrees at the University of Adelaide. Research students can choose a wide variety of programs based on their interest. Coursework qualification include masters, graduate diploma and professional certificate. Postgraduate student support includes different study options to help graduate students balance work and study. Postgraduate scholarships are also granted to eligible graduate students.

International students are generally required to pay the full fee for undergraduate study while both local and undergraduate students can be required to pay the full fee for postgraduate study. Scholarships

Adelaide offers scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students. These scholarships, as well as many others funded by industry and non-profit organizations, are available to potential and currently enrolled students. Scholarships at Adelaide are awarded to students on the basis of academic/leadership merit, extracurricular activities, economic status and financial need.

The university also offers a scholarship scheme for international students who wish to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate study or the study abroad program. Postgraduate research scholarships are available as well. The selection and ranking of applicants is undertaken by the graduate scholarships committee, using the criteria of academic merit and research potential.

University Life

University life at Adelaide is packed with social activities and programs. To make student life easier, Adelaide provides a number of different support services for students. Orientations, student advice and general support, student social programs, medical and dental services, financial assistance and disability support are all in place to assist students. During the first year, accommodation services is offered by the university.

Aside from all these, there are many clubs and societies that students can join depending on their interests. Students are also encouraged to participate in social and competitive sports, social events and activities.
