Description: Established in 2009 in memory of UTS staff member and respected IT academic, John Hughes, this scholarship is supported by donations from The Australian Computing Society, Codesmiths, UTS alumni and staff. The objective of this scholarship is to help students in need by providing funds in support of study related costs and materials and/or assistance with living expenses.

Eligibility: Applicants must: be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or permanent humanitarian visa holders; be full-time domestic students in their second (full-time or part-time) semester or later; be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or related double degree; be able to demonstrate academic ability and commitment to completing their course; obtain no fail results for any subjects and achieve a minimum of a credit average in each semester; and be able to demonstrate financial hardship. Selection is based on financial disadvantage; academic merit (GPA) based on UTS results; and initiative in personal and professional life as demonstrated through the Scholarship application.
