 Scholarship Name:  BHP Billiton Iron Ore Indigenous Scholarship Program

 Description:  The BHP Billiton Iron Ore Indigenous Scholarship Program has been developed between BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Curtin University and will be offered to all Indigenous students enrolled full time in an associate or undergraduate degree in any area of study. This Scholarship program is part of the BHP Billiton Iron Ore Indigenous Relationship Program Education. The program will be run through Curtin University and UWA.

 Annual Amount:  $17,000

 Annual Comment:  The scholarship consists of 3 different benefit types. Applicants will be considered for all 3 types, and may receive some or all of the funding: Books and Equipment Scholarship, valued at $2,000 per year; Living Allowance, valued at $4,000 per year; or Accommodation Scholarship, valued at up to $11,000 per year.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; be enrolled in an undergraduate or associate degree at Curtin University in 2015; be experiencing financial hardship; and be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place. Preference will be given to students from the Pilbara and Kimberly regions and other remote/regional areas.

 Other Details:  While scholarships are open to all Indigenous students enrolled or enrolling in any associate or undergraduate degree, preference will be given to fields of study within the following faculties: Science and Engineering; Curtin Business School; Health Sciences; and Humanities. Science and Engineering fields will be strongly considered.
