Description: The scholarship has been developed by Alumina Quality Workshop Inc. in conjunction with Curtin University to encourage and support students who have chosen to study chemical engineering at Curtin University and have an interest in the field of Bayer process hydrometallurgy or related fields. The Alumina Quality Workshop Inc (AQW) is an association of Australian based alumina producers, whose members are: Alcoa World Alumina, BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina Pty Ltd, Rio Tinto Alcan, UC RUSAL and Queensland Alumina Ltd. AQW's key objectives include fostering technology development, research and education for the betterment of the alumina refining industries, particularly in Australia.

Eligibility: Applicants must: be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or permanent humanitarian visa holders; be enrolled full-time (100 credits) in an eligible Science or Engineering degree at Curtin University; be enrolled in the final year of study in 2015; be enrolled in research project units - preference will be given to projects/thesis' in Bayer process hydrometallurgy or related fields; be enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place at Curtin University; reside within Australia; have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 65; and not currently hold an industry sponsored scholarship.
