Description: The Herbert and Inge Littauer Nursing Scholarship is offered in memory of Herbert and Inge Littauer who arrived in Australia as refugees from Germany in 1938/39 and began new lives. An annual scholarship is provided to assist an existing or prospective student of refugee background (current or past) to undertake nursing studies at either the diploma or bachelor degree level.

Annual Comment: The scholarship is valued at up to $2,500, to be used to assist with educational and/or living expenses.

Eligibility: Applicants must: be Australian citizens, permanent residents or holders of a humanitarian visa; be currently enrolled in a full-time nursing program at either diploma or bachelor level; and be able to demonstrate financial and/or educational disadvantage. Preference will be given to students who are current or former refugees (hold/held a Permanent Humanitarian Visa). Should no current/former refugees apply, then students with the following backgrounds will then be considered: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders; non-English speaking who have resided in Australia for less than 10 years; and relocated from rural/regional location to study at RMIT in Melbourne.
